Thanks Hairyfool. I looked at the site you supplied - it gave 15 driver files, some of which I eliminated as they were not my operating system. The rest gave no indication of containing a PCI Serial Port driver. FATXplorer’s brand new payment system has gone gold. Of work needed to port my. To be notified via email about new FATXplorer news posts as soon. However, I have run the most likeliest of them, to no effect. My Device Manager still shows the PCI Serial Port with no driver. I am a relative novice (well a 78y.o. One!), and I don't know what the PCI serial port does. Everything seems to work alright on the computer, apart from an old (HP 710C DeskJet) printer attached to a printer port (LPT1:). This printer used to work, but has suddenly stopped, and reinstalling it has no effect. Would this be affected by the Serial Port having no driver? ![]() ![]() Parallel PortI have also totally failed to install this printer through a USB port, despite having got drivers from HP. Any files sent to the printer via USB disappear into the nevernever with no error message. The USB ports all seem to work correctly otherwise. Files sent to the printer via LPT1: fail to print and give the error message 'This file failed to print', and then have to be deleted from the printer. Further help would be appreciated. The basic board spec shows it does not have a Serial port. However it does have an Intel Management Engine interface for which the drivers should be. If you read the driver page it informs that if these drivers are not installed it shows as missing drivers for a Simple Communications controller. To be clear serial ports are legacy devices and seldom used today. If not actually needed the lack of drivers for this specific device would have no effect on the system The specification also says nothing about a parallel port (Lpt1). Do you have an expansion card into which you plugging in the printer. The socket would not be in the main group of connectors but separate and in the vertical slots. Some port expansion cards had both Serial and parallel ports so this might be the missing driver. If so you would need to identify what the card is and find the appropriate drivers. Unfortunately it is highly likely they would not be available for Windows 7. The spec of the Printer does not show USB so have you got a USB to Parallel converter, In which case that is going to need drivers itself. Venerable and functional it may be but the 710c is a very old printer and although it may work if set up right is not supported on Windows 7. Have a good look at bios settings and check if serial port is disabled or enabled? If it does not show in bios you probably don't have a serial port. There is a yellow triangle at my Device Hardware infomation- My Tower-OptiPlex 755 Dell. I would say Xplorer360 does a better job than FATXplorer when it comes to HDDs. I mean,I could read both my stock 10GB Xbox HDD (after I unlocked it,my Xbox is TSOP'd so this wouldn't be too hard) and my 80GB Maxtor HDD I use on the modded Xbox. I had to use Xplorer360 to fix error 13,because of a bad x2config.ini I created. I fixed that by simply connecting the HDD to the PC,booted up 7,set the compatibility stuff I had to do (7 requires this,XP doesn't) and opened the drive, going through each partition (they were in no each order unlike the UnleashX dash) until I found the ini, deleted it,and turned it off. Serial Port 25 PinPut the drive back into the box, booted my PC back, fired up DScaler, and booted up the Xbox. I got the X2 Live Config screen, then the usual (stock, since it couldn't find the old ini) animation, and finally got greeted by the UnleashX menu I had. And to people using the X2 config maker - I'd recommend avoiding trying the FTP function,as that's how I ended with Superfro's error 13 screen. Or,if you use it,you'll notice the dashboard section gets empty. Just populate it back and then proceed edit the rest of the stuff. Johnny7810, I agree with you about Xplorer360. I used it last week on two XBOX's that are both v1.6's, and both had an Error 16 (both were softmodded) that I got really cheap from Craigslist. I have an old school IBM NetVista P4 running XP, and I fixed both Xbox's using this PC and the hotswap method. I want to put together a 2TB Xbox with one of my v1.0 units (I have read that getting a 2TB drive working with a softmodded is a pain) that is TSOP'd, and fill the drive up, and FTP'ing all that I know would take forever. I am wondering if Xplorer360 supports transferring games in ISO format to an original Xbox HDD? I myself would want the fastest possible transfer speeds.
